fading and need some support
by TheLoveDoctor infirst i am an ex pioneer of 2-3years ago and an ex elder of 9 months ago stepping down 12 months ago and stopped commenting for about 11 months.
prior to my enlightenment/awakening i was very active and an elder that spread the love to the congragation.. their has been very little shepparding by the elders witch im glad about, however 2 month goning on 3 i'v put 0 hours in service and reported 0. the memorial is comming up.
im expecting someone or sometwo to talk with me.

I'm in similar position to you fading 2 yrs+ ....From what others have said you have two choices and you may end up doing both.
1. Lie, suppress, evade. This works short term and gives you room to sort yourself out. Also useful if you have family to consider. Long term it drains you and you start to hate yourself for not being truthful and making a stand.
2. Fess up and be honest when asked. Although "I have doubts" will be forgiven more easily than "I dont believe x y z". Going this route will bring you flack and could end up in DF, but when option 1 has run it's course and starts to wear the nerves then option 2 starts to look like being worth it.
I am at option 2. Having just read COJs The Gentile Times Reconsidered this week it has totally confirmed the 587 date for me (thanks) and now obviously the Watchtower is just another cult to me. However I have much to lose here if word gets to the elders that I dont believe and finally stop going altogether.
But I intend to have the long delayed conversation with my mother this week (timing is terrible)..it was going to be last night but we had visitors, so now I'm aiming for tonight...
Only you know your situation and can make a plan that satisfies both yourself and to some extent accomodates your family,..

Is that podium thing unique to JW's? Do they build them?
by InterestedOne ini was wondering about that half-table/half-podium thing that jw's use on the platform.
is that unique to jw's & do they build them, like shakers had their own furniture?.

I cant remember the name of the sound supplier, but if you want the name of the sound company and you are in the UK I think it may be on the front of the amp... if not the back of it. It's a company in the midlands if i remember right. I dont go much and dont opperate the sound any more (shock, they dont let you do anything if you are inactive like me!) and have no interest in conversing with anyone on the sound department either so I wont be looking lol...
All i know is when i was sound servant 15 or so years back and we needed to replace our dying system we were given no option but to spend £2500 on something I could have easily specced and supplied for £800 max. Reason being is it was from the Bethel approved supplier. What a load of tat it turned out to be too. Oh and when we had a NEW hall.... you guessed it... we had to have NEW sound system to go in it, even though ours was less than 3 years old. Our elders in their wisdom decided to GIVE our old system back to the firm for them to reuse (read resell at great profit). But as always if you say anything other than the party line you get flack.
I'm reasonably sure its much the same story with all the materials on the quick builds tbh. I know the heating / air handling is a witness run business and the thing is shit and expensive to buy and run. Whch seems to be the common policy for all witless run businesses supplying witlesses.

Here in the UK almost all the halls have identical 3 legged rostrums / podiums. (They are very much better looking than that hideous thing in the picture though...) Reason being is they are all made by the same business run (you guessed it) by brothers who obviously have the contract (or just know some high placed witlesses) to supply them.
If a lot of your US podiums are all similar then I'd guess it's the same deal. They will be being made and supplied by a US business run by witlesses.
The same goes for the sound systems in the UK, all are made and supplied by a firm run by witlesses. All are EXTREMELY over priced as well. Two more things I dont like, witlesses making money out of their religion and a monopoly position on the contract.

Dan I thought you gave up on God when you came back from your sojourn in the wilderness? Pretty sure you made some such statements about finding it too hard and maybe there is no god after all.... What happened? (maybe i will regret asking that, cue road to damascus event)
I dont like the loaded language you have fallen into sorry, its typical and expected but makes for a poor argument and now that I have my eyes OPEN i can see and smell it a mile away whenever it appears here, or in JW publications or anywhere else.
Special knowledge and special insight unavailable to the unbelievers doesnt cut it anymore sorry. You have to make your point without reverting to that.

Plenty of baby and child killing in the OT to be had. Im reading through the OT now and it has been eye opening to say the least.
Many many cities and towns where EVERY BREATHING thing right down to the animals were slaughtered, ....or how about when Saul becomes king and then God (apparently) tells him to take vengence on the Amalekites for when they didnt allow the Israelites to pass thru their land when they left Egypt! Yes thats right 400 years AFTER the event in question God orders vengence and every man woman, child, suckling and animal to be slaughtered... That really pissed me off I can tell you.
Yet we read before and after this that God doesnt punish children for the sins of their fathers! WTF!
How the fuck am I supposed to love this God?
So that leaves us where? God exists and will slaughter billions including babies given his track record? Or it's all bullshit? Or somewhere in the middle of the two? I dont have the answer, but im not likeing the God of the OT at all.

I'd say 80 percent dont want the responsibility and extra flack it attracts.
Often the typical PO is one of two types.
1. Ambitious power hungry and controlling, ...he WANTs the position / authority / respect. Once there he will do ANYTHING to retain and protect that position.
2. Humble earnest believer, often an accidental PO. Often ends up PO thru others not wanting it, so he feels compelled to serve or else the CO makes him PO. Will give the position up whenever it is required.
The latter makes for a better and more refreshing choice. I for one am sick of the ambitious controlling jerks we usually end up with....
